One of those hidden gems you only find if you know what you’re looking for, Café Siglhof is our favourite spots to grab a relaxed bite to eat near Bayrischzell. Nestled in the foothills of the Wendelstein mountains at almost 1000 meters altitude, Siglhof is a mountain farm and cafe with an agricultural tradition dating back hundreds of years. Today, the surrounding alpine meadows are still used in the summer months for grazing oxen, with the café in service since 1996.
The Food
The menu here complements the style of the café perfectly. Instead of an emphasis on big, heavy meals, Café Siglhof offers a wide selections of snack boards, cold cuts and soups. Think “Brotzeitbrett” with cheeses and cold meats or a pair of Wiener sausages with a fresh pretzel. A couple of small warm dishes such as spinach dumplings are always available. The liver dumpling soup made with meat from the farms own pastures is one of the best in Upper Bavaria.
The café is particularly well known for its homemade cakes and tarts, prepared fresh every day. Many guests make the journey here just for the Kaiserschmarrn, which you can order at the Kaiserschmarrn Hut in the garden. If it’s not too busy, you can watch how the homemade pancake dish is freshly prepared with apple sauce, cranberries or roasted plums.
For Families
Directly adjacent to the outside seating area is a large playground with the odd farm animal roaming around. The tractor and old cable car are a big hit with the kids and provide plenty of entertainment whilst the adults enjoy the views.
Nearby Café Siglhof
One of the most popular hikes nearby, and in fact the best way to get to Café Siglhof, is the family-friendly trail from Bayrischzell to the Bayrischzell waterfall and Grüne Gumpe. This easy hike can be completed in about an hour at a pace suitable for children and has plenty to discover for both young and old along the way.

Honestly one of the most beautiful mountain cafés in Bayrischzell and the entire region, a visit to Café Siglhof is a must for vistors to Schliersee. Especially recommended for families with children of all ages. The hike to Café Siglhof is particularly beautiful in autumn. Please note that Café Siglhof is closed during the winter season.
