The hike to the Schliersbergalm is one of the best easy hikes around Schliersee and is perfect for a day out with the whole family. The serpentine path winds its way to the top in around 45 minutes and is easily doable with a buggy or trailer.
A fantastic panorama awaits you on arrival with stunning views over Lake Schliersee all year round. Despite the almost 300 meter elevation this easy hike near Munich is manageable even for beginners with modest physical condition.
Hike to Schliersbergalm
The starting point of the hike is Schliersee train station or the car park at the train station. From here, head north to Miesbacher Strasse and immediately turn left into Leitnerstrasse. First slightly uphill, then steeply to the bottom station of the Schliersberg Cable Car on Dekan-Maier-Weg. Caution: after the steep bend, be sure to take the second right turn – the first turning with the same name ends in a dead end.
After the cable car station the path begins to flatten out. The wide track snakes upwards through shady and sunny sections up to the Schliersbergalm. The path although not paved and uneven in places, is suitable for larger strollers / Kinderwagen.
Lunch at the Schliersbergalm
Reaching the top, a restaurant with a large sun terrace and a self-service snack bar (Alm) and beer garden await. Not only can you enjoy amazing views from the Schliersbergalm, kids will love the playground, Alpine Coaster and trampolines. From a culinary point of view, the restaurant is the better choice. But no matter where you sit, the view of Lake Schliersee is magnificent.
The quickest way back down to the valley is by cable car or the summer toboggan (Sommerrodelbahn). The summer toboggan is recommended for children from the age of 6 and only operates in dry conditions. The descent on foot follows the same path as the ascent.
From the Schliersbergalm the path continues up to the wooded summit of the Schliersberg (Rohnberg). We recommend the easy hike via the Stögeralm to the Rohnberg with descent via the Schliersbergalm as an alternative.
Directions & Parking
Drivers can park directly at the starting point of the hike at Schliersee train station. Early risers can grab one of the few parking spaces on Leitnerstrasse next to the church. The last chance for parking is at the station of the Schliersberg cable car. If you want to park here, you’ll need to make an early start.
By Bus & Train
Take the Bayerische Regiobahn train (BRB) from Munich to Schliersee. The easy hike to the Schliersbergalm starts at the station.
The first section of the hike up to the bottom station of the Schliersberg cable car is the steepest section. If you make it this far, the rest is no problem. Plan plenty of time for a break at the family-friendly Schliersbergalm with its playground, swimming pool and trampoline. The hike can easily be done in winter without the need for snow shoes.
