Fantastic location: From the Schliersee youth hostel you can enjoy unobstructed views of the Bavarian Prealps. Not only that, but the southern shore of Lake Schliersee is just a half an hour walk away. The youth hostel Schliersee is built in the traditional Upper Bavarian style and is located in the Schliersee district of Josefsthal. It has 101 beds in 23 rooms. The premises are equipped for families, schools, cyclists and sports groups.
This hostel is well known for it’s quiet location, the great breakfast, the traditional Bavarian cuisine and fast WiFi service. The short distance to nearby hiking areas is an added bonus: easy hikes around Schliersee and challenging hikes up at Spitzingsee start almost directly in front of the youth hostel. In winter you can find slopes of varying difficulty, cross-country ski runs and several toboggan runs in the immediate vicinity.

Youth Hostel Bayrischzell

The location of the listed Bayrischzell-Sudelfeld youth hostel is hard to beat. Residing at 1200 meters above sea level, the mountain house with cosy hut character offers an unobstructed view of the Wendelstein, the highest peak of the Wendelstein massif. The Bayrischzell youth hostel has been accommodating school classes, cyclists, sports groups and families since 1948.
In summer you can find numerous hikes of various levels of difficulty in Bayrischzell, around Schliersee as well as at Spitzingsee. In winter you’ll find yourself in the middle of the snowy Sudelfeld ski area, one of the most popular and largest ski areas in Bavaria. Bayrischzell is also one of the most important cross-country skiing centers in Bavaria, with numerous trails dotted nearby.
Tip: the youth hostel Bayrischzell-Sudelfeld is located between two of the most famous waterfalls in the region. To the west is the Bayrischzell waterfall, to the east the Tatzelwurm waterfalls.

BLSV Sport Camp Spitzingsee

From the outside, the BLSV Sport Camp Spitzingsee looks as simple as it is modern – an impression that continues inside. The view of the peaks at Spitzingsee is unbeatable, hiking trails start right at the sports camp, ski slopes can be reached quickly via the Kurvenlift just 50 meters away and a cross-country ski run starts right outside the door.
It’s only a short walk to the Spitzingsattel bus stop where the RVO bus connects to the BRB to and from Munich. Sports clubs, school classes and families stay overnight at the BLSV Sportcamp Spitzingsee. It is not a DJH youth hostel, so DJH membership is not required to stay overnight. The newly renovated building offers 90 beds in varying room sizes: mostly multi-bed rooms with 2 to 5 single beds as well as 4 balcony rooms.

Youth Hostel Tegernsee

The spacious house built in traditional Upper Bavarian style is located south of Lake Tegernsee and offers a variety of leisure activities on the edge of the Alps that is hard to beat. In summer, the Kreuth youth hostel is the ideal starting point for hikes in the Tegernsee mountains. Lake Tegernsee itself invites you to swim, windsurf and sail. In winter it’s only 10 minutes to the ski slope, a cross-country ski trail runs right by the front door and a toboggan run is only a few minutes’ walk away.
The idyllically located youth hostel can easily be reached by bus from Tegernsee train station. Families, school classes, hikers and cyclists are accommodated in 124 beds in 29 rooms.

Are adults allowed to stay at the youth hostels?
Yes. Whilst the target clientel are primarily young people, DJH (German Youth Hostel Association) members over the age of 27 are also welcome in the youth hostels at Schliersee and Tegernsee.
Do I have to be a DJH member to stay at a youth hostel?
As in all DJH youth hostels, proof of membership in the German Youth Hostel Association or in another association of the International Youth Hostel Federation (IYHF) must be provided upon admission.
