The Café
La Stazione is a café, bar and trattoria in one, with a beer garden in front and a terrace around the back. Or vice versa, depending on which direction you are coming from. Inside the historical buiulding you’ll find a cosy, living-room atmosphere with old Italian music playing in the background. Large shelves are stocked with rare books and various works of art adorn the walls. There is even a model railway to admire whilst placing your order at the bar.
Inside, the seats around the old Swedish stove provide the perfect spot to snuggle up after a cold winter hike. The terrace is open all year round with plenty of blankets to keep warm whilst enjoying a drink by the fire pit. Of all the cafés at Schliersee, La Stazione should be at the very top of your list to visit.
The Food
Grab an espresso and cornetto before a walk to the Josefsthaler Waterfalls or a hike to Bodenschneid. Take a break for a panini, tramezzini, topped focaccia or Vinschgerl on a bike ride around Lake Schliersee. Or warm up with a seasonal dish of the day freshly prepared in the station kitchen after a sledging tour in the mountains. The cold antipasti plate with freshly baked bread is available daily and comes highly recommended.
The drinks menu offers a wide selection of Italian specialties. In addition to well-known Italian juices and wines, visitors will find a surprise or two waiting in the fridge, including ichnuso non filtrata beer – otherwise difficult to find here in Upper Bavaria. During the summer months we particularly enjoy sipping a Vespa Spritz on the shady terrace. In winter you wont want to miss warming up with a Glüh-Spritz next to the fire.

Several hikes towards Spitzingsee start here at Fischhausen-Neuhaus train station, including an alternative ascent to Bodenschneid. A visit to the Markus Wasmeier open-air museum, which is within sight of the café, is particularly worthwhile.
