Twinkling lights, lovingly decorated stands and Christmas music from the brass band make this Christmas Market Fischbachau at the Klosterstüberl something special. And the selection of drinks is anything but standard. Whether you go for the Bombardino (warm eggnog with rum and cream), hot caipis or the Nutella schnapps, there is sure to be something for everyone.

Mulled wine and raclette by the crackling fire pit with a view of the snowcapped Jägerkamp and Brecherspitz mountains. This may not be a Christmas Market in the traditional sense, but what a fantastic atmosphere to enjoy during Advent. Alperie’s Alpenglühen Christmas Event in their wintery alpine garden in Neuhaus opens Friday to Sunday every Advent weekend. It’s popular with both the people of Schliersee as well as visitors and day-trippers and is our favourite place to enjoy a Glühwein on the edge of the Bavarian Alps.

The historic Christmas market in the Markus Wasmeier open-air museum is a highlight for the whole family. The old Bavarian village south of Schliersee at the foot of the Wendelstein mountain offers a particularly stunning backdrop and a wonderful alternative to the busy Christmas markets in the city.

Visitors to Wasmeiers Weihnachtsmarktl can expect to find unusual gift ideas for friends and family as well as the typical Christmas market fare. Those looking for a more hearty meal – and a seat – will enjoy the opportunity to pop into the restaurant to warm up. A Kasperltheater (puppet show), Christmas bakery and the craft room offer plenty of entertainment for the little ones.
