Spitzingsee is a picturesque mountain location with an absolutely perfect waterfront promenade for a family walk close to Munich. The 500 meter long promenade is traffic free and virtually flat, so ideal for all types of wheels, including pushchairs, kids scooters and wheelchairs.
The waterfront promenade at Lake Spitzingsee is an approximately 500 meter long section of the lake’s loop trail, running along the eastern shore of Spitzingsee. Starting at the Spitzingalm near an adventure playground, the promenade takes you in a southerly direction to the kiosk on the southern shore of Spitzingsee. At an altitude of 1084 m, you can be sure to enjoy stunning views of the imposing peaks around the lake, including the Brecherspitz and the Aiplspitz.
Both the promenade and the 3km Spitzingsee Loop Trail are easily accessible all year round and offer plenty of opportunities to grab a coffee or a bite to eat along the way. The promenade alone has not one but two kiosks serving drinks and small snacks to take away and enjoy along the shore. Those looking for a more substantial meal, can extend their walk at the end of the promenade to the popular Albert Link Hut (10 minute walk south of Spitzingsee).
