Oh no… rain! 4 Tips for a rainy day at Schliersee

Holidays at Schliersee and rain throws a spanner in the works? Servus Schliersee reveals 4 insider tips for a wonderful day in the region – not matter how bad the weather may be.

Visit a local distillery and taste unique whiskey

destillerie schliersee

The Brits are known to cheer up a cold, wet day with a “hot toddy”. And they’re definitely on to something. At Schliersee you can experience the Bavarian art of distilling on a spontaneous “self-guided tour” through one of two local distilleries. Followed of course by a tasting of regional whiskeys or schnapps. Using the purest mountain spring water from the Schliersee Alps, the whiskeys from the Slyrs (Neuhaus) and Lantenhammer (Hausham) distilleries have a truly unique taste.

Check out the distillery websites of Slyrs and Lantenhammer for more information.

Start the day on a high with the best brunch in Schliersee

sommer brunch miesbach

A long and relaxed brunch with friends and family adds a dash of sunshine to even the rainiest of days. The lovingly furnished Mary’s Esszimmer (Hausham) feels like a traditional alpine hut inside. Guests can enjoy the deluxe breakfast “A Tree for Two” including Prosecco in this wonderful atmosphere, without having to set foot on a mountain path.

If you miss the mountain views here, you can head to the Slyrs Lunchery in Neuhaus. Breakfast is served until 11:30 a.m. with classic white sausages as well as not-so-classic savory French toast and blueberry pancakes on the menu. And if the rain doesn’t let up, it’s the perfect opportunity to combine a meal at the Lunchery with a visit to the Slyrs Distillery.

Enjoy the beauty of nature on a rainy hike

If you have the right clothing with you and choose a suitable tour, a little rain won’t stop you from enjoying a hike near Schliersee. In wet conditions, we recommend shorter hikes along forest roads or asphalt, with a cozy hut at the end. The family-friendly hikes to the Albert Link Hut (asphalt path) and to the Obere and Untere Firstalm are perfect for days like these.

Sauna and swimming with mountain views at Monte Mare

What better way to escape the rain than to swap cold water for warm, on a wellness day at Monte Mare in Schliersee. The seats in the spacious sauna area are comfortable in all weathers. Whether warming up in the hot infusion sauna, relaxing in a steam bath ceremony or having fun with the family in the Vitaltherme: what could be nicer when it’s storming and raining outside?

Check out the Monte Mare Schliersee website for more information.

Bonus-Tip: Between May and October you can visit the Heimatmuseum Schliersee in the listed Schredlhaus building in the centre of Schliersee and immerse yourself in daily life of times gone by.
